Eurasian transport corridors form a new transport framework for Greater Eurasia

The positive dynamics of relations between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and the People's Republic of China was noted by the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Arzybek Kozhoshev, speaking on July 3 in Chongqing (China) at the First Trans Eurasian Cooperation Development High Peek Forum of Supply Chain in International New Land-sea Corridor & Freight Forwarding Fair. 

The EEC Minister proposed to focus on the development of initiatives to improve the efficiency of supply chains, simplify border crossing and the prospects for the development of transport corridors between the EAEU and the PRC. 

Arzybek Kozhoshev stressed that in order to achieve the ambitious goals of forming a Big Eurasian transportation it is necessary to create an appropriate infrastructure, increase the capacity of roads, railroads, ports, checkpoints, and inland waterway transport infrastructure. As well as regular events aimed at synchronizing the work of logistics services, optimizing transportation conditions, simplifying customs, phytosanitary and veterinary procedures, and increasing the investment appeal of joint projects. 

Fruitful cooperation between the EAEU and the PRC is developing under the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Priority Action Plan for Digitalization of Railway Freight Transportation. Relevant initiatives are implemented to develop trade and economic cooperation between the EEU countries and the PRC.

Arzybek Kozhoshev thanked the organizers for the quality of the event, noting that it would serve as a good platform to discuss current challenges and develop proposals to overcome them. 

The forum venue also hosted the plenary session "One Belt, One Road and the Greater Eurasian Space: New Horizons of Integration", which discussed issues in the field of transport and logistics with the participation of representatives of government organizations, railway and information platforms, businesses and academia, specialized logistics companies from the APAC and ASEAN countries, members of the Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation, the China International Freight Forwarders Association and AFFA.
