IX Annual International Forum "Eurasian Economic Perspective"
The IX annual International Forum "Eurasian Economic Perspective" was held in St. Petersburg on October 28-29.
Traditionally, the Forum has become one of the main congress platforms for conducting a dialogue on the problems of Eurasian integration, as well as exchanging views on the prospects of Eurasian interstate cooperation.
Representatives of legislative and executive authorities of the member countries of the Eurasian Economic integration, members of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, scientists and experts from leading universities of the Eurasian Association of Universities, economists, politicians and public figures, representatives of the business community attended the forum.
The business program of the forum opened with a plenary session with the main agenda "The Great Eurasian Partnership: Responding to Global Challenges". Igor Maksimtsev, Rector of UNECON, addressed the participants of the forum with a welcoming speech, who outlined the tasks of the Eurasian Economic Forum. Mr. Maksimtsev stressed the importance of the event, noting that "model draft laws that were proposed at previous forums and subsequently approved and developed in the states of the Eurasian Union help to integrate the participating countries faster and more efficiently."
The First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society Ivan Melnikov, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Vladimir Norov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Thailand, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to ESCAP in Bangkok Evgeny Tomikhin, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Economic Theory of St. Petersburg State University Mikhail Krotov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank Tigran Sargsyan and Deputy Co-Chairman of the RSPP Committee on Industrial Policy and Technical Regulation, Chairman of the Council for Technical Regulation and Standardization at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Andrey Lotsmanov made presentations.
Oleg Preksin, a member of the Board of the FBA EAC, took part in the forum.
The work of the forum continued in the format of round tables and panel sessions. This year, the topics of the meetings were devoted to the development of industrial cooperation and regional production chains in Eurasia, strategic partnership between Russia and China, international transport corridors and economic cooperation of the countries of Greater Eurasia.
On the first day of the forum, on October 28, a youth session brought together young scientists from different countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), providing a platform for acquaintance with the ideas of colleagues, as well as interaction with experts of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
