Panel Session "External and internal migration as a resource for international development of regions" was held on November 22
On November 22, within the framework of the FBA EAC International Business Week, the panel session "External and internal migration as a resource for international development of regions" was held on the platform of the VII International Forum of Finance University, where Andrei Bespalov, Chairman of the Coordination Council of ANO "Eurasian Center for Human Resources Management" made a keynote report.
The participants of the Panel session were greeted by Li Shuobing, President of FBA EAC, and Alexander Murychev, Chairman of the FBA EAC Executive Board.
The discussion was attended by Waldemar Herdt, Former Bundestag MP from the party «Alternative for Germany»; Ekaterina Kameneva, Vice-rector for academic affairs of Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation; Altynai Omurbekova, Director of EEC Labour Migration Department; Fedor Prokopov, Deputy Chairman of Presidential National Council for Professional Qualifications; Ruslan Taran, President of the International Social and Labor Fund of Migrants from Moldova; Alla Faktorovich, Deputy General Director of the National Qualifications Development Agency.
During the discussion, it was noted that migration is a multifaceted but natural process. The task of governments is to effectively use and regulate the movement of labor, both sectorally and regionally.
For the EAEU countries, the determining factor is not the migration flows themselves, but the ability to improve human capital, to encourage the population to be educated, highly employable and competitive. To this end, the procedures and instruments of migration policy must be linked to economic and investment strategies, as well as to demographic and foreign policies.
The general opinion is that, despite all the complexities of the migration process, the idea of a common labor market within the EAEU is useful and mutually beneficial. This is especially relevant in the context of a decline in the economically active population, as well as in the global trend toward technological change, which requires the concentration of all available highly qualified resources in breakthrough areas.
