THE HOUSE OF AFRICA IN MOSCOW
On April 26, 2023, Member of the FBA EAC Board, Chairman of the International Banking Committee of the Financial and Business Association of Eurasian Cooperation (FBA EAC) Oleg Preksin, took part in a meeting of the African International Club (AIC), established to implement the guidelines of the African International Congress as a mechanism for systematic work in the field of Russian-African cooperation.
The President of the AIC, Rector of the Eurasian International University Konstantin Klimenko chaired the meeting. The Ambassadors of Mauritania and Equatorial Guinea representatives of other African states and Russian business circles actively attended the event.
The participants discussed the opening of the House of Africa in Moscow, as well as the prospects for the creation of a Russian-African payment system.
It was decided to do everything possible to open the House of Africa in June this year, giving it the widest functions and powers.
The second question caused a lively discussion, during which various proposals were made, sometimes having little in common with the realities of foreign economic activity. In his speech, Oleg Preksin described the general situation in the field of cross-border settlements and made a number of proposals for a possible solution to short-term currency problems that have arisen at a number of embassies of African countries and African students of Russian universities.
The Russian and African participants of the meeting were presented with the Eurasian Financial and Economic Herald and a plan for preparing its next issue, a significant part of which will be devoted to African topics.
